Dorothy Hodgkin was Chancellor of the University of Bristol from 1970 to 1988, and remains the only British woman to hold a Nobel Prize (for Chemistry) in any of the sciences it recognises.

Eco-friendly composite wood decking and steps, higher slip resistance than the usual materials.
Plants selected to represent international community, eg : Ceratostigma plumbaginoides (Chiina), Leycesteria formosa (Himalayas), Imperata cylindrica (Japan), Dicksonia antarctica (Australia), Passiflora caerulea (Peru), Gypsophilia ‘Bristol’, Cercis canadensis (Canada)

Hodgkin House established in 1960s, when black students encountered great difficulty in finding accommodation and faced discrimination.
The House exists because people of different races and religions benefit immensely from the interplay of their traditions in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust.
Great excitement among the residents when the final design was presented to the Board of Trustees.
Opening ceremony by Lord Mayor of Bristol Cllr Cleo Lake on 24th Sep 2018 + lively garden party with delicious international fayre.
