As soon as you have headspace and a rough budget.
The initial stage is information gathering and can take time, depending on the complexity of the site/project. No worries, I will guide you through this.
The most successful projects always start well. This means planning in advance, collaborative discussions, realistic goals and trust in the client/designer relationship. -
Yes, if you want the garden built.
Without the construction specs, it is impossible to get a competitive quote from landscapers. The design would also be open to interpretation by the contractor, and will not end up being built as we intended.
As an independent designer, I don’t make money from the build stage. My clients know that my drawings and specifications give them the confidence that their financial investment is well spent. -
I am a property solicitor & landscape consultant, so you get the best of both worlds.
I can deal with planning matters for gardens which I have designed or have been commissioned to design.
This includes listed building consent, discharge of planning conditions, conservation area approval, Tree Preservation Orders, hedgerow management & habitat creation for biodiversity. -
Absolutely!
Not everyone will want or be ready for their entire garden to be built straight away.
However, you’ll need professional advice to phase the project correctly to avoid wasting time & money in the long run (eg : relocating nearly-established trees for heavy machinery access). I can help you spot potential problems before they arise. -
‘Reduce, Re-use & Recycle’… we love this!
Designs are considered so that material cuts and wastage are minimised. This reduces the quantities (and cost) of materials sent for landfill/recycling.
I aim to utilise local manufactures and fabricators for products and materials. I specify materials manufactured in the UK where possible, and use local landscape contractors.
